Background

I am an interior designer working in the Boston for over 10 years. A majority of my experience has been working on corporate workplace interior projects including building analysis and workplace strategy. I have a passion for technology and graphic design. I am always looking to push the boundaries, increase my skillset, and help someone in the process. I have years of experience training and mentoring junior designers, interns, and college students. I am grateful for those that helped me early in my career and am thrilled to give that back to others.

When I am not working, I can be found remodeling my fixer-upper in Wellesley, MA or taking our Shiba Inu/Husky mix for a walk. It’s wonderful to be able to take the skills I have, apply them to my own home, and see it come to life. My husband and I also love family time, traveling, and spending summers on the water. The more of the world we see and the more we can experience, the more we feel inspired.

The Hummingbird

SYMBOLISM

Beyond their iridescent beauty, hummingbirds are incredible. These tiny birds fly backwards and beat their wings up to 80 times per second. They represent life’s simple pleasures, love, joy, and optimism.

Despite their small size, they are capable of flying long distances to reach their destination. For that reason, the hummingbird symbolizes endurance and perseverance as well as adaptability and resiliency.

With a hummingbird spirit animal, they remind us to trust your innate abilities and allow your creativity to flow.

RELEVANCE

I have always been drawn to hummingbirds for their amazing iridescent colors, but also for what they represent. I find that love, optimism, resiliency, creativity, and hard work are at the forefront of who I am at work and in life. It has been a positive symbol that’s stayed with me for years and is the reason I choose to represent it here.

As an interior designer, I find many aspects of my day to day feel like a logic puzzle. It takes me back to the games that requires you to take various shapes and make them into a specific animal or picture. In addition to the spacial puzzles, I enjoyed taking those shapes to create my own patterns.

In the end, you might see the shape of a hummingbird, but there are a lot of little parts, pieces, and details that make up the overall idea.
